Owen Clarke is a freelance adventure travel and action sports journalist

Owen’s writing has appeared in a diverse array of action sports, outdoor adventure, and travel publications, including Climbing, Outside, Travel + Leisure, Backpacker, Iron & Air, SKI, Trail Runner, Rock and Ice, Gym Climber, The Outdoor Journal, VeloNews, Beta, National Park Trips, Yoga Journal, Triathlete, Beta MTB, Women’s Running, Oxygen, and PodiumRunner. His work particularly focuses on the vertical world, and in addition to mainstream climbing publications, Owen regularly writes for smaller outlets like Climbing House, FlashPumped, and Moja Gear. His other areas of expertise include long-distance trekking and motorcycling.

Owen has worked on writing contracts for 60+ industry-leading outdoor brands, including The North Face, Arc’teryx, Black Diamond, Outdoor Research, Petzl, REI, and La Sportiva, as well as nonprofits and mainstream brands. Interested parties can also find him on Upwork.

He is the lead writer for the high-altitude down apparel brand Valandré and the youth service organization VISIONS, and the editor-at-large for the adventure travel booking platform The Outdoor Voyage. He regularly provides overviews of mountain ranges around the world for the alpine navigational tool PeakVisor, profiles classical musicians for the formal wear brand Coregami, and edits climbing trip reports for the American Alpine Journal.

Owen founded the collaborative writing community Dead Foot Collective and currently serves as its editor-in-chief.
