His writing has appeared in a diverse array of outdoor adventure and international travel publications, including Climbing, Rock and Ice, Outside, Travel + Leisure, Backpacker, Summit Journal, Iron & Air, and The Outdoor Journal. His work often focuses on the vertical world (technical rock and ice climbing, high-altitude mountaineering), but other areas of expertise include long-distance trekking and motorcycling.
Owen has also worked on writing contracts for over 100 industry-leading outdoor brands, including The North Face, Arc’teryx, Black Diamond, REI, Outdoor Research, Petzl, and La Sportiva, as well as industry nonprofits and mainstream organizations. Interested parties can also find him on Upwork.
Currently, Owen is a contributing editor to Summit Journal, and the editor-at-large for the adventure travel booking platform The Outdoor Voyage and it’s companion magazine, The Outdoor Journal. He also writes for the cycling, skating, and watersports brand Retrospec, reports on mountain ranges around the world for the augmented reality navigational tool PeakVisor, covers adventure motorcycling for Moto Camp Nerd, profiles classical musicians for the formal wear brand Coregami, and is the American Alpine Journal “Climbs and Expeditions” editor for the nation of Brazil and the African continent.
Owen founded the collaborative writing community Dead Foot Collective and currently serves as its editor-in-chief. He also authors the serialized dark fantasy tale VOID INJECTION.
